Now you know why Annamalai quit the BJP, right?

K. Annamalai, the former Tamil Nadu BJP president, stated that he had “serious differences” with the party’s top leadership regarding its policy approach in Tamil Nadu. Speaking at the India Today Tamil Nadu Roundtable, Annamalai cited issues such as the BJP’s Delhi-centric decision-making model, the lack of autonomy for state-level leaders, and the allocation of the majority of projects to Gujarat as reasons for his departure from the party.

Months after leaving the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), K. Annamalai—the party’s former Tamil Nadu state president—revealed the reasons for his departure from the party he had joined in 2020, a year after resigning from the Indian Police Service (IPS). Speaking on Monday at the India Today Tamil Nadu Roundtable, Annamalai stated that he had developed “serious differences” with the BJP’s Delhi-centric decision-making style and believed that Tamil Nadu needed a political force with leadership and priorities rooted within the state itself.
